The application to run as a Democrat for a governmental office or a Democratic Party office must be filed by 6:00 p.m. December 9, 2019. The Kendall County Democratic Party office at 518 East Blanco Rd. Suite 103 will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on December 9 to provide a last chance for filing.

Candidates for governmental offices

To run, Democratic candidates must file to be in the Democratic Primary in March, 2020. The filing document is simple and should be filed with the County Chair or County Secretary. The filing period begins November 9, 2019 and runs for a month. The application must be notarized. A fee is required or a petition must be completed to be eligible to run in 2020. After successfully winning or running unopposed in March, the candidate will appear on the November General Election Ballot as a Democrat.

Candidates for Kendall County Democratic Party, Precinct Chair or County Chair:

There are eleven precincts in Kendall County and a County Chair who are elected every two years in the even year March Democratic Primary. To run for any of these offices a notarized application must be completed and filed with the Democratic County Chair or Secretary. Currently, all the positions are filled but any eligible Democrat desiring to be County Chair or a Precinct Chair in the precinct where they reside may apply and run.

If there is only one candidate for the Precinct Chair position their name will not appear on the ballot and they will assume the position in June, 2020. If there is only one person running for County Chair, their name will appear on the ballot and they will be elected and assume office in June 2020.
